Logan’s Dark Chocolate Oreo Ice Cream

The day has arrived!! We finally got Logan’s famous (well… famous in our house! lol) Dark Chocolate Oreo Ice Cream recipe up on the blog! Logan’s Dark Chocolate Oreo Ice Cream is one recipe you will want to try!

Not only did we get Logan’s Dark Chocolate Oreo Ice Cream recipe up, but we made a fun little video that shows exactly how it is done because this is NOT a #MinuteMonday type recipe. Nope, this is a small labor of love that will result in the best ice cream you’ll ever have!!! I have set the expectations pretty high, but I fully believe it will live up to them! 🙂

Logan makes this ice cream probably once a month. I tell him he can’t make it more than that because I cannot ration it out appropriately. It is literally gone in 4 days and I am 100% guilty or eating 2/3 of it! It’s THE best ice cream I have ever had.

We got our kitchen aid stand mixer for a wedding gift. It was something I KNEW I had to have – not because it’s super useful (it is… I use it weekly) but because they come in so many fun colors and that is how I roll.  Fun color = I need it. Haha! I had to have the pistachio one and my sweet grandma bought it for us.

The ice cream attachment we got a few years later and it sat, collecting dust, for years. One day we figured we were finally going to figure out how to use it, so we did. We made chocolate ice cream and never looked back or changed up the flavor! haha! Over the years, Logan has made a few tweaks and added the Oreo and it is now kind of a tradition in our home that everyone looks forward to!

We wanted to make a video of Logan’s Dark Chocolate Oreo Ice Cream because the recipe can seem a bit daunting. It has quite a few steps. A visual is always good, right? It makes it seem very much doable and that is what we are all about here – doable and attainable recipes and fashion. Now, we typically focus on healthy recipes, but once in a while we like to throw a few good desserts at you because YOLO! We are all about balance. So workout, drink lots of water, eat falafel and salad for dinner and then HAVE THE ICE CREAM and enjoy every second of it!

  • 3/4 Cup Crushed Oreo Cookies

Instructions

  • Place the KitchenAid ice cream bowl in the freezer and freeze for 15-24 hours before making this recipe.
  • Place chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and melt in the microwave starting with one minute and then stirring after every 30 seconds until melted.
  • Add 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder to the melted chocolate. Stir.
  • Add 1 cup heavy cream and 1/2 cup milk and whisk until smooth.
  • Set chocolate mixture aside.
