“M&K Do Hy-Vee” has been in the works for a few weeks now and we are so excited to share it with you! If you’ve been following us for a while, you probably remember that we did “M&K Do Aldi” about a year ago. We had so much fun doing it, and you all responded so well, so we thought we would share our love of Hy-Vee.
To be totally transparent, Katie gets to Hy-Vee more than I do, just because of location, but it is definitely a store we both love! I always go googly eyes over their Natural Food Section. It is dreamy! I will share more about it (and the day you need to go) later on.
So, we want to highlight what we think makes Hy-Vee special and why we love shopping there. Hy-Vee is definitely not Aldi. We love how diverse their selection is and how much fresh food/produce they have. It is pretty much a one stop shop!
Fresh Produce
When you first walk in, the fresh produce is beautiful! Their displays are perfection and they have pretty much anything you could ever want. Sometimes, when I go to smaller grocery stores, I don’t know what I’m going to find and sometimes have to visit two stores to get everything I need. Not the case with Hy-Vee, their selection of regular and organic produce is always fully stocked. They also have pre-cut veggies for stirfry or sheet pan dinners.
Grab and Go Meal Options
If you keep walking past the produce, toward the back of the store, you will find a huge selection of “take and bake” or “grab and go” meals. They have pizzas (including gf), lasagnas, asian options, rice bowls, appetizers, sushi (which is HALF PRICE on Wednesdays!!), and so much more! This is the perfect option for a night when using your meal plan and cooking just feels like too much.
Meats & Seafood
Katie and I were talking the other day about how impressed we were at their fresh meat and seafood selection. It is maybe the most impressive I have seen in Madison. You can find almost any cut of meat or any type of seafood you are looking for and it is fresh!
Cheese
Ok, if you live in Wisconsin, this is important stuff. They have an entire section dedicated to specialty cheeses. It is dreamy! K and I were joking how we would love to come up with a “M&K Cheeseboard” that you could pick up. Maybe some day, right?! But seriously, so many good options and it’s always fun to try something new!
Bakery and Fresh Bread
They also have a full bakery and make fresh bread, donuts, cakes, etc. all daily! They even sell Stella’s spicy cheese bread. SO good! I always used to wait in long lines for it at the Farmer’s Market, but now it’s easier to get!
Fresh Flowers
When you first walk into the store – between the produce and the checkout registers, there is a huge selection of flowers. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again – grocery store flowers are the BEST! They have a great selection, are affordable, and get the job done. It’s an easy $10-$20 that will for sure brighten someones day.
Wellness Selection & Wellness Wednesday
Last, but not least is the wellness section. They have an entire part of the grocery store dedicated to all of the “healthy” foods and I could not love it more. As a family who has some dietary restriction, this makes me so happy. I could spend so much time wandering up and down these aisles. They carry nearly all of my favorite brands and things that are really hard to find elsewhere! Ok, and ready for the best part? The entire section is 10% off on Wednesdays!
